5 Days Mount Meru Climbing Tour

Day  -1: Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport

Arrive at Kilimanjaro international airport as per your flight arrival time. Meet a representative from wonder routes adventure who will transfer you to your hotel for dinner and overnight at Mount Meru Game Lodge.

 Day  -2: Arusha National Park Gate

Breakfast at the lodge, and then depart to Arusha National Park gate at Momella. After paper work (clearance) at the gate then proceed to park head quarters (hq) for luggage weighing and picking your ranger guide and start your trekking, from Momella gate to Miriakaruka of which is your deshation on that day, there are two routes, the southern route and the northern route.

Southern route (road) it takes   5 hours walk from Momella gate  to Miriakamba hut. Through this route, you have the chance to see almost all mammals found in the forest including hornbills hartlanmb’s turaco and several birds of prey. It is also possible to see several species of butterflies such as the mocker swallow tailed, blue swallow tailed, emperor and mother of pearl butterflies as well as soldier commodores, and golden winged foresters etc.

You will pass through the montane forest where different features such as the fig tree arch, the maio  waterfalls and different kind of vegetation such as the  wild mangoes, African olives, strangler figs and wild  elders can be seen.

At about 2300m, the higher montane forest begins. Common trees are jumpers and podos . The common beautiful wild flowers are the impatient species, red- hot pokers, orchids, fireball  lilies and gladiolus.

After   5 hours of this fascinating trek along the beautiful scenery of the mountain then you arrive at miriakamba  hut for dinner and  overnight.

Northern route it takes  3-4 hours from momella gate to miriakamba hut. This is the shorter and steeper route. Along this route the views of  mount  Kilimanjaro and momella lakes are spectacular common mammals along this route are cape buffaloes, maasai giraffes, warthogs, bushbucks etc.

Birds are hartlamb’s turaco, white fronted bee eaters fiscal shrikes, tropical boubous, stonechats, variable sun birds and alive pigeouns. Common beautiful wild flowers are red – hot pokers, blue violets, cyniums, tubalousm and gladiolus.

So after 3-4 hours of fascinating trek in this route you will arrive at miriakamba for  dinner and overnight.

 Day  -3: Miriakamba hut to saddle hut

After morning breakfast you leave from miriakamba hut to saddle hut . along this portion of the route you can enjoy the speakcular views of mount Kilimanjaro the momella lakes,. The meru crater the ash cone, mout meru cliff and little meru. Through those astonishing forest several common animals can be seen including African cape buffaloes, elephants, bushbucks and black and white colobus monkey the main attraction of this park.  You will come across attractive wild flowers such as the empetient species, red – hot pokes orchids,  fire ball  lilies gladioulus, giant lobelias can be seen, from here is possible to rich the summit of little meru. Dinner and overnight at saddle hut.

 Day -4: Early morning start the trek . along this summit

After light breakfast in the early morning start the trek . along this summit  hike you will enjoy the best views of  mount Kilimanjaro, little meru, the meru crater, the ash cone, the momella lakes.

The cliff face, meru summit, the Ngorongoro crater highlands, Arusha city and also sunrise. You will be able to sport several animals such as klipspringers and mountain reedbucks over the rock terrain.

There also birds such as white necked ravens bearded vultures, stonechats, cliff chats and alpine swifts can be, bee seen at there higher  elevations while walking along the trail to saddle you can also see different wild flower. After reaching the summit   4566m (the 2nd peak in Tanzania and the  3^rd peak in sub – Saharan Africa) then you walk all the way back to miriakamba hut. For dinner and overnight.

 Day  -5: Depart to momella gate for farewell with trekking team

After breakfast you depart to momella gate for farewell with trekking team (prites, ranger)  signing and being awarded a certificate of the mountain , then late depart to Mount Meru Game Lodge for lunch, after lunch transfer to Kilimanjaro  international airport o catch your flight back home.
