Arusha National Park

Arusha National Park, known formerly as Ngurdoto crater national park  unlit late  1967, is composed of three formerly independent sanctuaries Ngurdoto crater, the momela lakes and the rugged meru mountains.

It is the closest wildlife area to Arusha, about  30 km from the city and is easily accessible throughout the year. Arusha national park is an ideal day trip destination even for visitors who are attending seminars, workshops and conducting business in Arusha and Moshi. Being the gem of park boasting a wealth of wildlife that includes colobus monkey, red duiker, bush bucks, cape buffalo, elephants, waterbuck and giraffe, it has also over  380 species of birds. Bird life, especially waterfowl, is abundant and during certain seasons numerous migrant birds may be seen.

The Momela Lakes are alkaline and harbor a variety of birds, including flamingoes. Ngurdoto crater is a volcanic caldera that mimics its brother Ngorongoro as a wildlife haven. Mount Meru , the  fifth highest mountain in African (4566m) wish  a beautiful mixture of forests and animals.
